The International Cricket Council has given former England opening batsman Ed Joyce special permission to represent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 at the World Cup in the New Year.
Joyce played for England in the last World Cup back in 2007 and under current rules, he would have been made to wait until April before he could play for Ireland with the next World Cup due to start in
February.
"It's obviously tremendous news.
Playing for Ireland again is something I've given a lot of thought to over the last few years and to be given the opportunity to do so, a little earlier than expected and on the biggest stage, is absolutely fantastic,"
said Joyce.
Joyce will add a lot of quality and experience to a developing Ireland team. He should take up the number one batting spot and no one can blame him for wanting to represent
the country of his birth.
Many attributes
Joyce has many attributes, which will help Ireland as a team. Experience has to be the biggest one. Joyce has played 17 one-day internationals for England with a highest
score of 107 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
He can use the experience he built up through these games to prepare some of his Irish teammates for playing cricket at the very highest level. His first class average
is just under 45, which shows he knows how to score runs in all conditions.
This decision has been made because it had become clear that Joyce was not going to wear an England shirt ever again. The England ODI team has moved on from the time he
was a main component in the side.
"Having seen the talent and work ethic of the squad over the last week
or so in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, I feel Ireland will, once again, make a huge impact at the World Cup and I look forward to hopefully offering a lot to the team in the tournament and the whole of 2011," he added.
Betting advice
The problem Joyce now faces with Ireland is that he'll be targeted as a stronger player. Teams will work harder to get him out quickly. However, he should still score a
few runs and is a great bet for top Irish run scorer at the 2011 World Cup.
