Ed Joyce, Ireland’s top-order batsman, expressed his satisfaction on being back with his home country in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2011.
“I am delighted to be back with my old team-mates”, Joyce stated ahead of their clash against Joyce’s old team, England at Bangalore, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
The Irish batsman was granted special dispensation from cricket’s governing body in November 2010 to participate in the tournament. He left Ireland to play for England in order to excel in Test cricket, the longer format of the game, as his country had not
gained ICC Test status.
Joyce was a part of England’s 15-man squad at the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean but had a lacklustre time with the bat when he faced the top cricket countries.
“Those 18 months (with England) was in quest of playing Test cricket, that did not come about...but I am back with Ireland”, Joyce stated to the media.
When asked if he is nervous to play against England on Wednesday, he dodged the inevitable question and replied that he is “always nervous playing in the World Cup”.
The 32-year-old’s dream of Test cricket may be unfulfilled but the discipline and the hunger of playing cricket still remains the same. He stressed on the fact that playing with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 shamrocks creates a more “vibrant atmosphere”.
The batsman, who helped Ireland to qualify for the 2007 World Cup, stated that he was happy with the fact that cricket in his country is progressing. His voice was filled with pride when he mentioned that the younger lot of the team has improved the game
immensely.

However, Ireland has a tough challenge ahead to make a mark against England, who is buoyant from their thrilling tie against India on Sunday.
