http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ed-Joyce-c1417 has extended his contract with Sussex County Cricket Club until the end of the 2013 county season after signing a one-year extension with the club.
The Irish believes his decision to move to Sussex has benefited him a lot and attributed his successful 2010 county season to the Sussex coaches.
"I'm delighted to have signed an extension to my contract at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852," said Joyce. "Since moving down to the south coast I feel my game has really moved on under the guidance of the coaches here."
The 32-year-old Dubliner, who has been an important part of Middlesex’s middle-order for a decade since making his first-class debut in 1999, has compiled 10,344 first-class runs from 152 matches at an average of 44.97 including 24 centuries and 56 half-centuries.
He joined the Lions in 2009 after leaving the Panthers and enjoyed an excellent season with the club in 2010 compiling 590 County Championship runs at an average of 45.38 in 15 innings.
Joyce was among the four players who struck historic centuries in the Division Two Championship match against Derbyshire at Horsham, first time in the history of first-class cricket that the top four batsmen had all struck hundreds in one innings. He had
a successful 2010 one-day season as well averaging above 42 in the Clydesdale Bank 40.
"The next few years will be an exciting time for the club with all the ground development going on and we have http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Young-c41367 and hungry squad of players, so I'm chuffed that I've been given the opportunity to be a part of it for at least another three years.”
The Ireland born left-handed batsman, who played for England in the ICC World Cup 2007, will now face England in next year’s quadrennial event where he will be representing his birth country after he has been granted special dispensation
by the International Cricket Council to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751.
Both Ireland and England have been placed in Group B of the 2011 World Cup that would be jointly hosted by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747. In the match against England, Joyce is likely to face his Sussex team-mates Michael Yardy and
Luke Wright.
