Ed Moses wins Men’s 50m breast-stroke event at United States Masters Swimming Short Course Nationals
The performance of Ed Moses in the Men’s 50m breast-stroke meet captivated the attention of the crowd on the third day of the United States Masters Swimming Short Course Nationals in Mesa, Arizona. Amazingly, Moses clinched the gold medal in the 50m back-stroke
with a remarkable time of 24.84 seconds and broke Jeff Commings’ 2008 record of 25.69 seconds in this meet.
Ed Moses is considered to be one of the most competitive swimmers in United States of America. Moses won the golden crown in the Men’s 4x100m medley at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Besides, he grabbed the silver medal in the 100m breast-stroke in the
same Olympic Games. On the other hand, he picked up the top seed in the Men’s 4x100m medley at the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona.
In the Men’s 100m back-stroke final, Chris Stevenson took home the golden crown with a fastest time of 51.55 seconds and improved his own previous record of 51.74 seconds in 2010.
Meanwhile, Tom Barton snagged the Men’s 100m back-stroke crown with a winning time of 56.55 secnonds. In the Women’s 100m back-stroke final, Noriko Inada took home the golden crown with an astounding time of 54.60 seconds and improved her own time of 55.50
seconds, set in 2009.
In the meantime, Sheri Hart picked up the top seed in the Women’s 100m back-stroke with a winning time of 56.03 seconds and broke Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen’s record of 57.15 seconds, set in 2003. In the Women’s 500m freestyle final, Charlotte Davis captured the
gold medal with the fastest time of 5:57.32 minutes. Then, she won her second golden crown in the Women’s 200m freestyle final with a sterling time of 2:13.65 minutes and improved her 2011 record of 2:14.03 minutes in the following meet.
Patricia Murphy took home the Women’s 100m back-stroke title with a winning time of 1:08.17 minutes and beat Diann Uustal’s previous record of 1:11.36 minutes in the respective event. Carolyn Boak snatched the Women’s 100m IM title with an incredible time
of 1:15.80 minutes and improved Jackie Marr’s 2009 record of 1:18.86 minutes in this race. She also clinched the Women’s 200m freestyle crown with a stunning time of 2:24.31 minutes and broke Suzanne Dills’ previous record of 2:24.66 minutes in the following
meet.
