Eddie Chambers: I am having a great camp – Boxing News
Eddie Chambers, former world title challenger, will be making his ring return on June 16 to face Tomasz Adamek. The event will be a twelve round heavyweight bout and it will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark. Speaking about his injuries and his
preparation for his upcoming bout, Chambers notified that this fight would be a remarkable one between two pugilists of the same stature and capabilities.
Chambers came up saying, “This is one of the better fights that can be made in the heavyweight division. We are two smaller heavyweights whose speed and activity will be great for the division.” Chambers currently stands with 36 wins, 2 losses and 18 knockouts,
while his opponent Adamek stands with 45 wins, 2 losses and 28 knockouts. Chambers fought Wladimir Klitschko in 2010 for the title when he lost just seconds remaining for the final round. On the other hand, Adamek went onto challenge Vitali Klitschko in 2011
and lost the match in 10 rounds.
Eddie recalled his previous fights saying that he needs more activity and his shots will automatically connect in the ring. He added that he was able to land 61% of his punches against Alexander Povetkin yet he lost the fight. According to Eddie, fight stats
do not matter but what matters is winning the show. He added that in order for a fighter to be famous, he needs to have wins in his portfolio.
He then revealed his about his training saying, “I’m in Detroit, training at the Kronk Gym. Everything is going really well, and I am having a great camp. We brought a lot of guys in to help me out, and I’m getting good work. The heat is legendary here.
My trainer, James Bashir, works close with Emmanuel Steward and Wladimir, and he thought it would be a great idea to train here. The atmosphere alone gets you pumped.”
Chambers then spoke of the shock he went through when he got to know about Big Rob’s death. According to Chambers, Big Rob was like a family member to him and that now he is not going to be there anymore. He even went on saying that his father suggested
him to become a boxer but Rob was the man behind his achievements. He finally said that he wants to thank his fans and wants to request them to keep Big Rob in their prayers.
