Eddie Chambers: I don’t want to be sound brash but I’m sure I would have won the fight – Boxing News
After being defeated by Polish fighter Tomasz Adamek, Eddie Chambers has a lot to say. Chambers suffered a unanimous defeat by Adamek, losing his IBF North American heavyweight title. However, Chambers believes that his defeat is not attributed to Adamek’s
brilliance but his arm injury.
In the post fight conference, Chambers came up saying, “I don’t want to be sound brash but I’m sure I would have won the fight. It would have been extraordinarily on-sided for a fighter that was for an underdog going in.”
When asked who will be fight next, Chambers stated, “This is a question for the promoter. I don’t know who. I did what I did and now it’s time for rest. I’m a fighter, I’ll fight anybody. You can look at my resume as far as the guys I faced in the past.
I don’t care who it is.”
Even though Chambers believes Adamek was not up to the mark, Adamek maintains that he gave his best to defeat his opponent, adding that he won the fight clean and there is no doubt about it. He added that he was standing there and fighting punch to punch,
and that he is proud of winning this fight. Adamek added that he will fight again in September but now it is his time to rest and enjoy being the champion.
The fight started with Adamek dominating Chambers. However, in the later rounds, Chambers came back and got hold of the fight but his arm injury impeded him to play better. According to Chambers, he injured the bicep of his left arm in the very first round.
The third and fourth rounds went to Adamek. After the first round, Chambers did not use his left arm much. He tried to control Adamek with his right but a single-handed game was not enough to stop his raging opponent.
For now, Chambers believes he will rest for a while and then wait for his next opponent to be decided. On the possibility of a rematch, Chambers said that it is up to the promoters, and whatever they will decide he will go for it.
