Eddie Hearn asserts Amir Khan cannot dictate terms against Kell Brook – Boxing News
Eddie Hearn, promoter for Briton fight sensation Kell Brook, has asserted that former light welterweight titlist Amir Khan will have to submit to Brook’s terms, if the latter wants to get a fight. According to Hearn, Brook is a bigger sensation now than
Khan, who has lost his last two fights.
“His next fight is against a lightweight who can't punch [Carlos Molina],” Hearn while talking about Khan’s upcoming fight against Carlos Molina.
“What is Amir Khan going to do? You're talking about a fight which would be box office, that would fill a stadium and pay both fighters in excess of £2 million. Where else is he going to get that kind of money?” he added.
On the other hand, Hearn is proud of Brook’s achievements. The Briton stands as an undefeated fighter after stepping into the ring 29 times. He recently knocked out Hector Saldivia in the third round in Sheffield in order to get a title shot at Devon Alexander.
“Amir will want to fight on his terms, but that's not the case now. We're filling stadiums, breaking viewing figures on Sky and the terms would have to be 50-50 and if they can't get their heads around that, it's not going to happen,” Hearn added.
It should be noted here that Brook is waiting for a shot at Khan for quite some time now. In his recent interview, the Briton contender asserted that his rivalry with Khan is personal and that he is waiting to knock out the former champion in the ring.
Brook has asserted time and again that he does not like the way Khan talks and he wants to ‘shut his mouth’ in the ring.
On the other hand, Khan is in no mood to take on Brook so soon, as he is already going through a rough patch in his career. The former champion has applied to condition of fighting Brook only if the latter grabs a world title.
In other words, if Brook defeats Alexander and becomes the champion, Khan will have nowhere to go but to face him. It seems like Khan is once again in danger considering the fact that Brook is a puncher.
