Eddie Hearn reckons Carl Froch can be labelled as the greatest UK fighter – Boxing news
Carl Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn reckons his fighter can be labelled as the greatest fighter Britain has ever produced.
Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch will take on Glen ‘The Road Warrior’ Johnson on this Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the semi-final bout of the Super Six Classics tournament in Atlantic City and the winner will advance into the final to face the unbeaten World Boxing Association’s
World Super Middleweight champion, Andre Ward.
Eddie believes if his fighter beats both Johnson and Ward in front of his own fans at the City Ground, he can be labelled as the greatest British fighter ever produced.
He also told the media that the 33-year-old Carl has created a legacy over a very short time span and thus he definitely stands a chance.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I've been critical of the SuperSix but now it is reaching it's final stages, it is exciting, especially as our man is on the cusp of the final. One thing that is great is that the best fights the best and Carl has
created a legacy over the shortest time possible. Beating Johnson then Ward would unify the titles and I don't see how he cannot be labelled the greatest fighter Britain has ever produced.”
Eddie remarked Froch already has achieved a lot and if he also wins in Nottingham, he is going to get a perfect reward for his heroic efforts.
He stated, “Carl has built a huge platform with Showtime in the US so we cannot rule out the possibility of him fighting a Bute, Hopkins or Pascal in America. But I feel that with all he has achieved, a homecoming in Nottingham would be a fitting reward
for his heroic efforts.”
He also revealed that Carl has always wanted to perform in front of his own people in a massive night and therefore he is going to try his level best to make it happen.
