Eddie Hearn reckons Carl Froch deserves utmost respect from everyone – Boxing news
Carl Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn reckons that his fighter deserves utmost respect from everyone after beating ‘The Road Warrior’ Glen Johnson.
Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch defeated the Jamaican Johnson on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the semi-final bout of the Super Six Classics tournament in Atlantic City. He has now earned a berth in the final later this year against the unbeaten American World Boxing
Association’s World Super Middleweight champion, Andre Ward.
Hearn told the media he did not think if there was anyone who has ever fought like Froch. He added that people like Froch are not much in the world of boxing.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Carl deserves the utmost respect from everyone in the world. He is a real fighter. We don’t have enough people like Carl Froch in boxing. We’re going to build his fight with Andre Ward for what it is: a unification
fight between the two best super middleweights in the world. I don’t think there has been anyone who has fought, successively, so many top opponents. Carl is just a fighter.”
It was a wonderful effort from the 42-year-old Johnson as well, as he stood in the ring for all 12 rounds and gave a pretty tough competition. The fight was so close that even one of the judges called the bout a draw. However, Froch was not worried, as the
overall score, 114-114, 117-111 and 116-112, was in his favour.
Froch was also admired by Johnson’s co-promoter, Lou DiBella. He at first said he is proud of being Johnson’s promoter and then added that everyone on Johnson’s team respected Froch. He also believes that Froch is going to make it a very tough night for
Andre Ward in the final.
He remarked, “It is an honor and privilege to be his promoter and to be his friend. You never get less than 100% from Glen Johnson. Everyone on this team respects the heck out of Carl Froch. If Andre Ward thinks he will have an easy night, he is very wrong.”
