Eddie Hearn to Amir Khan: Forget Floyd Mayweather, fight Kell Brook instead – Boxing news
Eddie Hearn, who is the promoter of Kell Brook, has suggested the currently unified World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation Light Welterweight Champion, Amir Khan, to consider taking on his man as he believes Khan at present has
no chance of securing a fight against Floyd Mayweather.
The Bolton’s finest, who is more commonly known as King Khan, is currently set to take on Lamont Peterson on December 10, 2011 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C. This will be Khan’s concluding fight at 140 pounds division because
he will then move on to 147 pounds division in search of some big fights and Hearn wants him to take on his fighter.
“If Khan wants a big fight and a big fight in Britain, then who better than against the new superstar in that division, Kell Brook?” said Hearn to the Mirror. “We've seen him [Khan] wobbled at lightweight and at light-welterweight, so is he ready
for a fast, big puncher, where you don't know where the punches are coming from, at welterweight? That's the question and we would find the answer against Kell.”
The undefeated American legend, Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, with 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, recently revealed he wants to fight on May 5 and Khan is keen to take on the American
superstar.
Moreover, the chances of Khan’s bout with Mayweather increased when Manny Pacquiao, who was expected to fight Mayweather, now looks as if he is going make a rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez.
However, despite all the facts Hearn thinks Khan is not even anywhere near to a Mayweather clash.
“Anyway, I don't think Amir Khan is anywhere near a fight with Mayweather and I'm not sure Mayweather would really look at that fight,” he said.
The 25-year-old Kell ‘Special K’ Brook is an undefeated prospect. He has won all of his 25 professional fights, in which 17 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Therefore, his clash with Khan will certainly be an exciting one yet it is Mayweather
versus Khan which people would like to see.
