Eddie Jordan says Sebastian Vettel still far ahead of other drivers in 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Eddie Jordan, owner of former Formula 1 team Jordan, has said that Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel is still far ahead of other drivers with 234 points in the 2011 Formula 1 championship battle.
Vettel won six races out of 11 rounds of the ongoing season so far. However, EJ said that Vettel has the 2011 title in his bag as his competitors, Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are not catching up with him as they are taking
them off each other by scoring points for the season’s championship.
He mentioned that every driver wants to be in Vettel’s current situation in the season. However, he said for this they have to drive strongly on the grid as Vettel drove in the initial races of the ongoing season.
In addition, he stated that the German has an extremely fast car this season and that he has a better understanding of his RB7. Therefore, he said that he can handle difficult situations during his races.
Talking to reporters, Jordan said, “If anything, I think it's more of an advantage to Vettel than it is to Alonso, because he has the points and I don't think there's a person on this planet who would not want to be in Vettel's situation: he's got an extremely
fast car and a brilliant team which is well managed and well funded.”
He went on to mention, “Red Bull have the superior car and the other two, having had to compete all the way up to Abu Dhabi last year. They are catching up, albeit too late I think, but it's still hugely exciting for the races.”
Red Bull driver Vettel is leading the 2011 drivers’ championship despite the Hungarian Grand Prix results. He was 3.5 seconds off the pace of McLaren’s Jenson Button, who was the winner of the Grand Prix. After starting from the pole place on the grid, Vettel
finished his race at the second position ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
Let’s see how the 24-year-old driver performs in the rest of the season following his second place finish in the Budapest race.
