Eddie Jordan thinks Lotus Renault GP is bullying Nick Heidfeld – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan has recently stated that he thinks Lotus Renault GP are ‘bullying’ Nick Heidfeld since the team has released some negative statements regarding their driver claiming that he has not performed up to the expectations.
“It could even be described as bullying. They probably want to wear him down so he throws in the towel voluntarily,” he said.
One has to admit that Heidfeld really did not perform up to the mark for the team but still he has been trying his best and he is pretty much on an even keel with his teammate Vitaly Petrov.
Both of the drivers have secured a podium position each during the first 2 races but since Heidfeld is a more experienced driver, the team expected more from him and they are quite disappointed as they had their hopes high for the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team was expecting a lot of help from him as he is quite experienced and since they lost Robert Kubica for the 2011 Formula 1 season because of an injury, the team is quite frustrated as well and it seems that they are channelling this anger and frustration
through Heidfeld these days.
However, Jordan claims that Heidfeld is ‘Mr Consistency’ and that he is aware of his abilities since the German driver drove for his team as well for a year in 2004.
“For me, he is Mr Consistency. I know this because Nick drove for me for a year. 2004 was a very difficult year for Jordan financially, and we could not give him the car that he deserved. The same is true also at the moment of the Lotus Renault,” he added.
Nevertheless, Renault are hoping of improving their performance at the upcoming races and probably defeat their closest rivals Mercedes GP in the constructors’ standings in order to take the 4th place.
According to the team’s current pace, it is a long shot for them as Mercedes GP are performing more consistently at each venue comparatively.
