Eddie O’Sullivan reveals USAE Eagles 50-man provisional squad for 2011 Rugby World Cup
United States of America’s national rugby Union head coach Eddie O’Sullivan has announced his 50-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2011 Rugby World Cup (RWC). O’Sullivan has announced the squad at the completion of the USA Eagles 2011 Churchill Cup
campaign.
USA Eagles won the Bowl final by defeating their archrivals Russia 32 – 25 at Sixways Stadium on June 18 at Worcester.
Speaking on the occasion, O'Sullivan said, “With the World Cup less than three months away we have put together an extended pool of players from which the final Eagles Squad of 30 players will emerge.”
O'Sullivan has included the 29 – man squad that represented the USA Eagles in the ninth edition of the Churchill Cup earlier in the season. He further added, “The players who made the Churchill Cup Squad have the advantage of having been in camp together
for the past three weeks. However, there are players who missed the Churchill Cup for various reasons.”
USA Eagles will play three pre-World Cup preparation matches before the August 22 deadline to name the final 30-man squad for 2011 RWC. Eagles will play against the Canada twice on August 6 and August 13 at BMO Field, Toronto and Infinity Park, Colorado.
Eagles will play their last of three pre-World Cup preparation matches against Japan in Tokyo on August 21.
