Eddie Pepperell wins the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne title
Eddie Pepperell won the title of the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne in a playoff session, as he shot a 68 in the final round.
The 21-year-old Englishman scored a 3-under 277 in the four-day, European Challenge Tour event, played at the Golf Blue Green de Pléneuf Val André in Pléneuf, France.
He teed off the tournament on Thursday, and scored a 3-under 67. He shot five massive birdies and two bogeys in the first round.
Then in the second round on Friday, he faced tough challenges while scoring and shot three birdies and carded four bogeys. He ended the day by recording a 1-over 71 in France.
Similarly, he scored the same in the third round as well. This time, birdie-bogey ratio was different. He made four birdies and five bogeys in total.
After playing an average game in two rounds, as he strived to be do his best on Sunday. He somehow improved his scoring, shooting a -2 to the final scores. He shot four birdies and two bogeys throughout the final round.
“It feels like I’ve won twice! To be honest I thought I’d done first time round, but credit to Jeppe for taking it to a play-off. I was handed a life-line with Jeppe finding the business off the tee, but I told myself not to get defensive because I thought
he’d still probably make five at worst. So I’m delighted to get the job done, because this win will open up so many doors for me”.
He added: “Being able to plan by schedule is priceless, because before this week I didn’t know where I’d be playing next. So to be able to pick and choose which tournaments I play is a huge bonus”.
He defeated Jeppe Huldahl in a playoff mode, who also played well at the French course. Huldahl also faced tough challenges in two rounds and scored well in two.
The Danish performed average in the first round. He shot a 2-over par on Thursday. Then he improved his performance and shot a -2 and -3 in the second and third round respectively.
Posting good scores took him to the top, however, he faced a defeat in a playoff mode. Now, both the golf players have plenty of chances to become impressive in the upcoming European Challenge Tour events in the current season.
