How about Mark Knopfler??? I guess SRV because he doesn't fire everyone that he gets mad at, but he's not alive (I am actually from about twelve miles from Alpine Valley- where his helocoptor crashed into the ski hill)...

Eddie Van Halen - no question! As a song writer, he is probably the only artist in history to have a top five album with three different singers. That is a testament to all of the great Van Halen music he has written through the years.

He is the most innovative and influential guitar player in Rock history so I take him over Stevie here as well. If it were JUST Blues, I would take Stevie. If we are starting a band and needed someone who can write great music, play multiple instruments, and create ground breaking solos, you have to take Eddie Van Halen! He is the much more valuable musician.

Well since I have always heard that Eddie has a ton of attitude and I am not really a fan of the "I'm the star" mentality. Coupled with the fact that I actually knew and liked Stevie back in the old days in Texas. I think I would go with Stevie.
