Ede Clendinnen Shield Sydney: Nicholas Kidd punishes Wesley Caulkett in Men’s Singles contest
Western Australia’s Nicholas Kidd stamped his supremacy on court as he put up spectacular show and thrashed Wesley Caulkett of Queensland Titans in Men’s Singles battle at the 2012 Ede Clendinnen Shield Sydney in Australia, on Tuesday, August 28.
The aggressive Nicholas, who remained in tremendous form in the whole tournament, played impressively in his contest against Wesley and remained successful in winding up the battle in straight sets.
The in-form Nicholas was on a different level on court as he played flawless badminton throughout the battle and remained successful in taming Wesley while consuming just 24 minutes on court.
On the contrary, Wesley could not live up to expectations as he played quivering badminton all the way and also failed to match the pace of rallies. He lost the battle without grabbing any set from his rival.
In the first set, Nicholas started his run in a positive manner as he played with remarkable precision and managed to take a wonderful advantage by setting up an early lead.
The in-form Nicholas continued playing tremendous badminton without losing his focus at any stage and got a superb lead until the end of opening half of the first set.
After the one-minute interval, Wesley tried to narrow the gap but failed to put up strong show as he committed many un-forced mistakes.
However, Nicholas remained on track as he did not let his opponent to bridge the gap. He was completely in commanding position at the concluding phase of opening set and took the game with a stunning 21-9 score on the board.
The following set was slightly better from the previous one as both shuttlers played at the same speed in opening rallies.
Nevertheless, Nicholas again took over the charge from his rival and started to put up strong show by taking the bird early. He was leading the game with a wonderful margin until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Nicholas continued his positive and staggering run on court as he remained aggressive and composed and ultimately ended up the second set with a wonderful 21-12 score on the board.
