Question:

Edelbrock or Holley for a 1990 Chevy Silverado 1500?

I just purchased a silverado with 60000 miles on it and the stock carburetor is c**p. It has a 5.7 liter 350 in it and has a complete exhaust with hooker headers, aftermarket cats, and dual flowmasters. I want to rebuild the engine now but I can't decide on edelbrock or holley. I'm looking for performance, but I want it to look good so that showing it could be a future possibility. Any ideas? This is my first carb and I want to do it right. Also, any ideas on the price of a birdcatcher and the difficulty of installation? I have amateur mechanic experience but with all fuel injected cars, including a camaro with a 350

  1. go with the edelbrock carb it will last and perform a lot better than a holley ever could do,i got one on a sb 350 running about 335 horse power and it does fine,i can go from a dead stop and smoke the tires off of it on any kind of pavement, holley carbs have a bad habit of overloading too much, edelbrock makes a really good carb, good luck.

  2. Convert your Silverado to FI. Holly is better in all out performance. The Edlebrock is a better less trouble driver type carb, both look OK to me. Holly carbs are harder to tune and susceptible to power valve problems with just one back fire, it can take the PV out. Your choice.

  3. edelbrock with a matching street performer manifold.  Holly don't play well with GM products.  Carter carbs good too as Edelbrock is only a carter clone.
