  1. I have seen ads for the so-called "super efficient" electric heaters. Bull. Electric heat output depends directly on the electrical input, there is no "efficiency" factor to contend with.

    You get 3412 btu per KiloWattHour (some sources say 3413 btu/kwhr). This is all you can get. It doesn't matter if it is open wire coils, oil filled, ceramic or any other type of heater, you get 3412 btu/kwhr. Some heaters will heat instantly (open wire coils) and some take a long time (oil filled) but they both put the same amount of heat into the room. The oil filled will be slower to start radiating heat into the room but then continues to do so after the power is turned off. There is no free lunch.
