Eden Sharav aims to earn pro tour place in 2011-12 Snooker Season: Players Tour Championship Event 1
Young Scotsman Eden Sharav is aiming for a pro tour place in 2011-12 Snooker Season by performing up to the mark in Players Tour Championships (PTC) and World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School).
The youngster is hopeful that PTC events will play a key role to achieve his targets.
Sharav played terrifically during his PTC Event 1 run and made it to the fourth round. The 19-year-old ousted a couple of strong pro players like China’s Liang Wenbo and Adam Duffy in first and second
round respectively. He surged into Round 4 after beating Gary Wilson but unfortunately, lost to Marcus Campbell there by 4-0.
While speaking to a local snooker website in an interview, Sharav said, “I thought I had a great run in the last PTC competition with some memorable wins against professionals Adam Duffy and Liang
Wenbo. I was starting to hit a bit of form but unfortunately I felt ill before my last 16 match with Marcus Campbell, and went on to lose 4-0.”
The amateur didn’t play any PTC event last season because he was looking for a sponsor but he has planned to participate in the PTCs this season and earn a tour place.
He added, “I will be playing in another eight events this season. Now that I've had a good run in one, I know I can do it and realistically hope to finish strong enough to earn a professional tour
place through them. I'm playing in the Scottish amateurs and, if I don't get a pro tour place in time, I will be playing in Q school.”
World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn’s decisions, since he took over the helm at World Snooker, have benefitted snooker very well so far and his steps towards the popularity of the game have been quite
successful.
Recently, he took another stance to provide amateur players an opportunity to play in pro tour. He announced Players Tour Championships (PTC) to be a rout for winning a pro ticket after the success
of Q School.
