Edgar Degas "Dancers in Pink"?

I dont understand this question i have to answer for school....

describe the technicle qualities of the work (i.e, tools, materials, instruments).

would this mean paintbrushes, a canvas, paint? it seems like a silly question if thats the answer cuz most artist that paint use that...

  1. Define Impressionism.  How was Degas different? He was classed as an Impressionist more for the company he kept and the subject matter of his work than his actual style. What was different about how he painted - his technique, use of colors, paint strokes?  What did he see when he looked at them, that you or I may not have seen?  

    Here's a nice website about Degas that you might find helpful. Failing that, get to the library and pull out a book on him and his paintings and you will have your answers :)
