  1. Wood sorrel. It looks like clover and grows close to the ground. It has a tangy taste and if you are thirsty, it really helps. Lots of folks put it in salads. There are a number of field guides to edible wild plants.

Wild food plants grow almost everywhere.  Today, we just don't think about it.  Dandelions are edible- heck they can even be made into wine.  Near water, cat tails are easy to find, and the entire plant is edible.  Water lillies are easy to find too, and are also good.  Nature even supplies pain relievers.  Willow bark teas provide the same pain relief as aspirin, cuz aspirin was developed based on the chemical in willow.  Strawberries, raspberries, blue berries- all grow wild.  May I suggest a book to check out?  "The Art and Science of Taking to the Woods".  By Branford Angier.  Lots of good illustrations, and descriptions of various plant foods.
