Edin Dzeko hopeful that Manchester City can beat Manchester United in Community Shield match
Manchester City striker, Edin Dzeko has gone on to state that he is more than just hopeful over beating Manchester United in the upcoming Community Shield game.
The Bosnian striker has gone on to have an impressive run in the pre season and hopes to that that from with him, into the game.
The forward has stated that he wishes to win a trophy, prior to the season starting and hopes that this win will give his side a much needed boost, going into the Premier League season.
The Community Shield match is held between the winners of the FA Cup and The Premier League and coincidently, both the teams in Manchester went on to win those two competitions.
United went on to cruise to the Premier League crown last season, while City ended their trophy drought, which stood for over thirty years, as they beat Stoke City in the finals of the FA Cup.
Dzeko is hoping that he can bring home another trophy, along with the rest of the squad in order to give the fans something to cheer about and to prove to United, that they are no longer the only big thing in Manchester.
When talking about the upcoming game, Dzeko is quoted to have said:"Of course it is a big game for us and our fans"
The striker then went on to take the optimistic route, as he stated his side were more than capable of landing the trophy, as long as they are fit. He also added that the win would be a great boost going into the season.
Dzeko ended by adding: "I think we are fit and hopefully we can we can win the game but you never know and Wembley will be full again and I hope to win another cup before the season starts."
Both City and United have had highly impressive pre seasons. Both the teams have gone on to win numerous games, while showing that they have strength in depth. At the same time, two teams have seen their star players battle it out, in order to become first
choice and this in turn has made the team perform even better on the whole.
Had this match taken place a couple of seasons ago, United would have been declared as the clear favourites to win the game. Nonetheless, with City having gone on to massively improve over the last couple of seasons, the game is impossible to call.
