Edinburgh Rugby head Coach Michael Bradley bags Sharks lock and scrum half
Edinburgh Rugby newly appointed head coach, Michael Bradley, has acquired the services of two former Sale Sharks’, Sean Cox and Christopher “Chris” Leck. Edinburgh Rugby confirmed the signing of the former Sharks lock Sean Cox and scrum half Chris Leck in
an announcement made on the club’s official website on Friday, May 27.
Edinburgh Rugby is a Scottish Rugby Union professional senior club and competes in the Magners League besides the European competitions. The new joining has strengthened the Murrayfield stadium’s squad and both players are expected to join the rest of the
squad during the second week of June.
The former Ireland International Captain, Bradley, has expressed his delight on signing of the players. He said, “It's great news for the club that we've secured Sean and Chris and that they'll be here right from the first day of pre-season training in a
couple of weeks' time.”
Bradley has hinted on further signings to develop a strong side. He further confirmed that he is looking forward to sign a few international players to the side to give the club a real chance to compete with the big guns in the upcoming season.
Lancaster born Cox joined the Sharks in 2004/05 season and so far has made 76 appearances for them in both domestic and European level. The 26-year-old is an England international and has represented England at Under-21 level, in Under-19 Rugby World Cup
and in Under-19 Six Nations tournament.
Commenting on signing, Cox said,” I've been really impressed by what Michael has had to say on his vision for the team, and I'm delighted to have become part of his plans.”
Manchester born Leck, made his debut for the Sharks in 2007 against the NEC Harlequins. Leck failed to secure a regular place in the starting line-up but capitalised on every opportunity that came his way. The 25-year-old Leck has played for England Under-16
and Under-18 national rugby union teams. He has made 16 appearances for Sharks including 11 premiership appearances.
Commenting on his signing, Leck said, "Edinburgh is a great club and city to be based in, and I'm delighted to have joined. I know all about the quality of player we've got at scrum-half, but I'll be doing everything I can to stake my own claim and repay
the faith the club have shown in me."
Both Cox and Leck have expressed their hopes that they will settle in with the new players in couple of week’s time.
Bradley brushed aside comments about player adjustment issues and stated that players are mature and professional enough to understand the team norms, procedures and culture. He added that the players’ previous experience of playing at the international
level will help them to perform in the tough conditions.
