Edinburgh Rugby’s captain Greig Laidlaw extends his stay at club with new two-year deal: Rugby News
Scottish professional Rugby Union club, Edinburgh Rugby, has announced the extension in stay of their captain and scrum half, Greig Laidlaw. Officials at the club have confirmed the signing of a new two-year deal with Laidlaw in a statement released on their website on Tuesday, September 13.
Commenting on his new contract, Laidlaw told the the club’s website, “I'm really happy to be staying at Edinburgh Rugby for another two years. There's a lot of good feeling and exciting changes happening off the pitch while we're about to start a new chapter under Bradley.”
Edinburgh Rugby’s head coach, Michael Bradley, has expressed his delight in extension in the stay of their talented halfback player Laidlaw. He praised Laidlaw’s personality attributes and game skills and termed him as a hardworking indrugbividual. He expressed his hope that Laidlaw will play an important role with his leadership and performance to bring more success to the club.
Bradley added, “The quality of Greig as a rugby player and a leader has already shown through this season. He leads by example and sets very high standards for himself and others.”
Laidlaw has expressed his pleasure on extending his stay at club for two more years. He made his professional Rugby Union career debut with the Edinburgh Rugby in 2006. Earlier, he was part of the Edinburgh Rugby’s developmental program.
Earlier this year, he missed out from selection into Scotland’s squad for the ongoing 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign.
The 25-year-old Laidlaw has expressed his confidence that playing for Edinburgh Ruby will earn him a selection in Scotland’s national squad. He has expressed his desire to excel in his new role and help the club to achieve success.
Laidlaw added, “There are a lot of good young players coming though the club and I think that if we can build on their ability we can progress as a club, improve our league position and build our crowd and support.”
