can anyone tell me the best place to go in edinburgh on a thursday night?? nightclubs ect

Try Genaros on the Grassmarket (Italian restaraunt) and there's a pretty cool dance club just off the Mound. But I like the Jazz cafe if there's something good on.

For music Po Na Na and Liquid are the best, both in Old Town, I think Liquid is Victoria Street. It all depends what kind of clubs you're looking for, there's loads of comedy clubs as well and Cabaret Voltaire is probably the best dance night.
