  1. Try the Belford Hostel. Very cheap, lovely little place.

Might not be as booked up as the hotels.

  2. why not do a yell.com search for the tourist info office in edinburgh.

they will have all the info that you need at their fingertips. if you have a definite date then they can book you in at the same time.

  3. hi when i stay in edinburgh i stay at menzies belford hotel and book through gta hotels which is usually about 52 per room per night . this hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the city centre and does a fab breakfast.

  4. Edinburgh accommodation during the Festivals? As rare as hen's teeth.

  5. I stayed in the The Hudson Hotel, it's location is very good and we walked everywhere, so saved on taxi etc. My boyfriend took me for my birthday so don't know how much it cost him and don't want to, but have a quick gander on-line. Don't think it was expensive as my boyf isn't a millionaire. It is a lovely hotel, the staff are very friendly and the breakfast is yummy. Have a good time!

  6. For 20 USD we stayed at a great hostel in the city called Caledonian. Look it up on HostelWorld.com... it was a fun experience for only one night and you get a free breakfast in the morning.

  7. Lovely anecdotes...

During the festival, other than a cancellation or gap night between bookings you will not find anything in Central Edinburgh for just one night - though it helps slightly that it is midweek. If you do it wont be cheap - prices are around three times higher than in the low season.

Realistically you will need to travel in from the edge of Edinburgh or beyond in neighbouring towns (South Queensferry, Penicuik, Livingston for example) and should try a search on that basis as you would be wasting your effort in thev City.

Sorry this isnt the answer you would like, but it is an accurate reflection of the City's accommodation during the worlds premier arts festival.
