The Partenopei chief has stressed that he will see the Manchester City interest sit-out the duration of his contract rather than give him the king’s ransom of €7-8 million per season.
Aurelio De Laurentiis has slammed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955 for demanding astronomical wages in his contract re-negotiations, and has stressed that he will let the striker ‘rot on bench’ rather than agree to what he believes are unrealistic demands.
The Uruguayan striker had an impressive season at the helm of the Azzurri, and his performances have attracted interest from the likes of Juventus and Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
The Naples outfit and the player are in the process of negotiating a contract renewal in the aftermath of the interest from top clubs around Europe, and the attacker wants his status as one of the top players in the world to be recognized in his yearly wages.
Cavani has reportedly asked for wages of €7 to 8 million per season, but the demand has not gone well with the club President.
De Laurentiis slammed the Uruguayan international for demanding what he believes to be an unfair pay raise, and stressed that he will not succumb to the player’s threat of leaving his club if the demands are not met.
The Azzurri chief was adamant that he would rather see the striker sit out the entire duration of his contract with the club, rather than give him a raise that is through the ceiling.
While talking to the TuttoNapoli.net, the Italian film producer said:
"I will let him rot on the bench if he asks for €7-8 million (£5.5m-£6.3m) in wages.”
De Laurentiis went on to comment on Mino Raiola’s recent statement in which he has advised Marek Hamsik to not to let the President bully him, and seek a move to a top club in order to face new challenges and grow as a player.
The Partenopei supremo was adamant that this is not the first attempt to lure the Slovakian away from the Naples outfit, but maintained that the winger will not move from the club anytime soon.
"For years, he has been trying to take Hamsik away, but the Slovak is like iron and will not move from here.” He added.
