Cavani was then asked about his reaction to De Laurentiis’ statement in which he stated that he would rather see the player rot on bench than give him a higher wage.

The Partenopei attacker went on to point out that he has scored an impressive 66 goals in the last two seasons, and insisted that the scoring in itself is an accolade that warrants a better contract.
"De Laurentiis knows what he's saying. But I do not answer in words, only on the field. I think that what I have done so far represents something important for Naples. My 66 goals in two years - that seems like a good percentage to me."
Cavani signed a five-year contract with Napoli in the last summer, a major reason why he is being refused a revision with a better salary.
