  1. yes u should

i don't think Boston ever face him and usually teams dont do good against pitchers they never seen so start him u never know ....

  2. Has pitched to well this year to be leaving him down, yes it is a tough match up but the way he has pitched has earned him a spot in your starting line up every time he pitches.

  3. The guy has been a machine so far this year.  He is unsitable at this point.  I know the Red Sox have a good offense but good pitching will always beat good hitting.

  4. Boston has a tough lineup and I probably would sit some lesser pitchers. In fact there was someone that I did not pick up recently due to the fact that his start was at Boston.

But, how can you sit Volquez? I would have to take the chance given the way that he has played.

Others may have different opinions but I don't sit my stars.

    Good luck. Have fun.

  5. No doubt about it- start him, He's amazing and i gurantee you he will get the win and strikeout AT LEAST 7 and not give up a home run and only 2 ER or less. Come back to me after the start! VOlquez should be a CY young  candidate if he keeps it up and I bet he will!

  6. I'm kinda edgy if I will start him against the Red Sox this Saturday. Remember that he really struggled in his three-year stay at the American League before going to the National League this season. But having an incredible season this year, he is a must-start.

It's your call if you want to start him on Saturday. But if you ask for my opinion, if you're already a sure win in your H2H match-up,  I would rather sit him. If not, then start him at your own risk.

  7. The Red Sox are one of the worst teams when they see a pitcher for the first time. You could take a pitcher out of AAA and start him against the Sox and he will look like a Cy Young pitcher. I'd start him.

  8. Sure, he's as hot as anybody. I have a general rule that says until a SP has 2 bad outings in a row, i start him every game.

  9. yes - volquez has been the ultimate free agent steal on one of my teams.  He is the league leader in both ERA and strikeouts why would boston stop him?  They have never actually seen his stuff before so he will have the edge on the sox.  Both Philadelphia (350) and Chicago (369) have scored more runs than Boston (346) and he has managed to shut them out this season to a combined 2 runs over 24.1 ip (17ip scorless streak against them.)  Volquez will be able to overpower the Red Sox.

  10. Yes, as a Reds fan seeing everyone of his games; Volquez has not given up more than 3 earned runs all year in a single game. Great American Ballpark (G.A.B.P) is a hitters park and Volquez still has the N.L. best E.R.A. If I could always put the ball in his hands I would. People thought he would start the year in AAA Louisville but he proved he can pitch. Just about all of his pitches everyday when he goes to the mound are in the mid ninety's except for his off speed stuff. He was worth the price of giving up Josh Hamilton. He handled the pressure of winning a game against Cliff Lee when he was undefeated with an 0.67 ERA, to hand Lee his only loss so far this season at G.A.B.P.
