She is a yorkiepoo, 9 wks. I got her last week and she doesn't seem to be eating as much as I thought she may/should. I have been feeding her Eukanuba wet and dry food but she does not like either. The breeder told me that she always gave her these foods. She doesn't seem to eat much at all. Maybe a tbsn of wet and hardly any dry. I am softening the wet food with puppy milk (supplement, not natural). I even add boiled chicken or unseasoned meats to her wet food to get her to eat more. She loves real meats.

Her behavior is fantastic. Well behaved, energetic and doesn't seem to be starving. She stays pretty well hydrated. She tinkles about 5 times a day and has a BM about 1-2 times a day. BMs are solid and the size of a thin pinky. I have had small breed dogs before but they did eat much more than she does. Any suggestions?

  1. don't start your pup off on dog food make mash

peas, mashed potatoes, eggs great for the fur

talk to your vet they'll tell you mash would be good her

  2. Maybe try a higher quality dog food like Solid Gold, Orijen, or Diamond Puppy

  3. When you first get a puppy they can get anxious or excited with their new home, they even forget to eat.  When we first got my Dachshund she barley ate also, we contacted our vet and they explain to us that it is normal and okay if she is not eating as much as she could, just to make sure she IS eating.  I would still talk to the breeder about it to make sure.  She will eat when she gets hungry, as long as she has food she will not starve.  Try not to switch dog foods, she is young and used to the food she has and it isn't good for them, or your carpet!

  4. Feed her a good dog food. You will feed less food in the end, and you will be giving your dog the nutrition she needs to grow properly Eukanuba is not a good dog food.

You feed your dog what it says on the side / back of the bag.

  5. Well Eukanuba is a bad brand to go with. If your dog loves meat, then I would consider trying out the raw food diet. Although you'll have to get the ones that are for dogs, not human meat. If you really want to give your dog dry kibble food, you should visit this website to know what's best for your puppy.

Reading the ingredients to any dog food is VERY important to your dog's health. You'll learn SO much from these two sites. Once you do this, you'll know what's right for your young puppy's health. By the way, if your puppy doesn't like eating a brand of kibble food, you could always return the bag, even if it's opened or used.

  6. If you want your puppy to eat the Eukanuba, then stop adding anything else to it.   Set out the food for 20 minutes.  Whatever she doesn't eat in that time is taken away.  Give her nothing else until the next meal, which will be available for 20 minutes, then removed.  Keep that up and within 24 hours she'll be going after the Eukanuba like it's the finest food on earth.  Remember!  No between meals snacks for her or pretty soon you'll have a really spoiled dog.
