Editing photos - how to do rounded corners?

Question

how can i make rounded corners on an image like here:

and faded edges, with/without rounded corners?

but the thing is i don't have photoshop and i really want to know how, i will download any editing software which allows me to do so.

well if you go on http://www.fotoflexer.com/ and upload the photo, there is an option that lets you round the corners. you dont need to download anything and it comes out fairly well.

The edges aren't really faded. It's because the lighting is bright, so the blanket appears white... which blends in with the screen's color (white also).

Download adobe photoshop cs2 [or higher]
