Edmaaj likely to win Totequadpot Handicap
Edmaaj looks to be the strongest contender for the title of Totequadpot Handicap that is going to take place at Pontefract racecourse on Sunday, June 24. The high-voltage Class 3 contest will commence at 3:10 (GMT).
On the soft track of 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 6 yards, the David O’Meara-trained young gelding will run against 9 rivals such as Robemaker, Oceanway, Heddwyn, Calaf, New Hampshire, All The Winds, Brocklebank, Tamarrud and Blades Lad.
At the end of the race, the winner will be awarded a cash prize worth £8,715.
Edmaaj marvellously broke his maiden in his last outing on June 16, 2012. It was Richard Howard-Vyse Memorial Handicap that took place at York ground. Despite being a non-favourite runner, the brilliant horse demonstrated outstanding performance to defeat 16 worthy competitors under Daniel Tudhope.
This fabulous triumph boosted up the gelding’s morale greatly along with making him a favourite prospect for the Totequadpot Handicap.
The talented son of Intikhab out of Lady Angola started his career with a runner-up rank on June 28, 2010. The four-year-old runner moved ahead to grab a 5th position and a runner-up spot during August-September.
After these three races, he went behind the screen. After a long gap of almost one and a quarter year, he staged a strong comeback on April 23, 2012 and finished second again in each of the two back-to-back races.
At the moment, Edmaaj is carrying a lot of fighting spirit that augurs well for his today’s going. If the gelding manages to keep his winning impetus intact, he will have up to 90 percent chances to finish first.
Among the other runners, Blades Lad and Calaf are likely to do well today.
Blades Lad debuted in September 2011 and finished as a runner-up in each of the first two races of his career. The Richard Fahey-trained novice gelding broke his maiden on April 28, 2012. He grabbed a 9th and a 6th position in the two back-to-back races during May-June.
On the other hand, Calaf has won 2 of his total 19 starts so far. The bay gelding is also trained by Fahey. His last triumph came on May 5, 2012.
Thus, a rip-roaring clash is expected at Pontefract. Let us see who carries the day. Good luck to all the ten contestants.
