The former Barcelona defender has heaped praise over their youth academy, stating that it makes Barcelona unique how they manage to make great players almost every year.
The Spanish giants, Barcelona, are famous because of their youth academy, La Masia.
La Masia has managed to make brilliant players who are now being considered as the best around the globe.
It all started when Josep Guardiola joined Barcelona back in 2008 and helped them win all the trophies at hand.
The Spanish giants won six trophies in a single season, something that no other team has managed to achieve to date.
The team became famous as most of the players in the squad were graduates of Barcelona’s own youth academy.
Players such as Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique, Victor Valdes and others were in the Barcelona first-team which managed to win each and every trophy at hand.
Moreover, in the second year, the Ballon d’Or award saw the first three players from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604. Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta were the three players who got selected by the Ballon d’Or selection committee and they were given the first,
second and third award with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 taking home the prestigious individual honour.
Since then the Barcelona youth academy has become famous and everyone knows that the Catalan giants are extraordinary at making young players.
While speaking about the Catalan youth academy, their former centre-back said:
"I think every piece of work gets its reward. Barca went through five or six years without winning anything and buying in lots of players from all over the world before they realised that they had players close to home who were just as good as those they
had spent so many millions on. I've nothing against those players of course, but the academy is a diamond in the crown that produces players every year.”
"That's the best thing about Barca that every year they get better and bring youngsters through who are capable of playing for the first team and go and play for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011."
Two of Barcelona’s youth academy graduates, Messi and Iniesta, have again managed to qualify for the final three of the UEFA Player of the Year award.
