Edmonton Oilers' General Manager Steve Tambellini not giving into tantalising offers for top pick

It seems like teams around the National Hockey League (NHL) are failing as their tantalising offers made to Edmonton Oilers’ general manager, Steve Tambellini, are not making him budge a single inch from his position of not giving up the top pick in this
year’s entry draft.
Tambellini was talking to the media on Thursday, June 21, 2012, and expressed how teams were making him big offers for that no.1 pick, but being his usual self, the GM was not bent on giving it away for anything.
At the moment, the talk going around Edmonton is how long will the general manager resist before he finally caves in and whether or not he will be able to hold on till that exact moment during the two-day long draft event.
“I’ve had a lot of discussions, but, like I said from the very beginning, it would have to be something very significant for me to present it to Kevin (Lowe) and the ownership,” said Tambellini.
For Tambellini, it is rather an exciting time since he will make his top pick duo of Taylor Hall (2010) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (2011) into a trio of some of the youngest and hottest players in the league at the moment.
“(A good enough offer) may not come and I’m totally fine with that. Like I said, we have an asset coming to this organization to join Hopkins and Hall and Eberle and Paajarvi and Petry and some of the young D who are coming, also. It’s an exciting time for
us,” Tambellini added.
Instead of actually letting go of the first one, Steven Tambellini is in the mood to secure another single digit pick. For that, he has given a general plan of giving up No.32 and giving a player from a team that has a pick in the top 10, but no confirmed
reports about that happening have come up yet.
“Maybe we could consider moving up again and taking another (first round) pick. We’re positioned well for that second one, also,” he said.
Only time will tell what Tambellini has planned out and what he will actually, making the upcoming event ever more exciting.
