Edmonton Oilers Taylor Hall healthy, but not enough to start playing -NHL Update
Edmonton Oilers’ top pick of the 2010 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft, Taylor Hall, above one place of Tyler Seguin, is reported to be healthy and recovering, but not enough to the point that he starts playing anytime soon.
The young forward is reported to not even be able to slip on a jersey due to the rehabilitation process of his shoulder and any quick jolt to the area could prove to be a time waster for the work done and time spent on it so far.
Hall arrived in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on Sunday after having procedures, including surgery to repair his left shoulder, and received clearance to start skating but not for contact yet. Also, when the time does come, Hall will not be able to play in
North America any time soon during the lockout as he was not fit to be sent off to their minor league affiliates, something that happened just days ago and included 26 players.
“I’m going to have to find somewhere to play, I’m not sure when that is going to be,” said Hall, who may even have to give going to Europe a shot in order to continue playing.
The preseason games scheduled for all teams have been cancelled by the league in view of the persistent situation, but Hall is hopeful that the NHL and Players’ Association will be able to work something out by the time the regular season will be set to
start.
“It hasn’t been six months yet, but I’m happy with it,” Hall said. “Whether I’d be ready to start the season on Oct. 11 (the scheduled start of the NHL regular season), I can’t say, but it’s really close.”
The bad luck of having messed up his shoulders while playing in the minor leagues is still affecting the young forward, but Hall is optimistic that it will not be a problem anymore as he looks to play hard next time around and prove why he was picked first
overall.
Last season, the 20-year-old put up 53 points (27 goals, 26 assists) in 61 games played and 36 minutes in the penalty box.
