Edmonton Oilers’ Taylor Hall likely to join Oklahoma City Barons in American Hockey League
Taylor Hall, a professional hockey player from Canada and a forward who plays for Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL), can be expected to play for Oklahoma City Barons in the American Hockey League (AHL).
The 20-year-old player always wanted to be there in AHL and he wanted to play there for Oklahoma City Barons but it looked as if it was not going to happen. Hall’s shoulder injury looked to be a hurdle as the Oilers assigned 26 of their players to their
AHL affiliates but the left winger’s name was not there in the list.
But now there is another interesting talk going on between Edmonton Oilers and Oklahoma City Barons, according to which some more players could also be transferred, who would be given a contract which would be ended.
Steve Tambellini, the general manager of Edmonton Oilers clarified it in the statement, in which he mentioned that those who have not signed contract yet, could still get them. Even though the deadline day has passed but it has been done for the good of
the players, who would have not played hockey during the time and may have lost their form, ruined their careers. Tambellini said,
“They’ve clarified that, players who do not require waivers, who meet the rest of the criteria, can sign an American (Hockey) League contract. The intent wasn’t to prohibit guys, who would normally have been able to go, to go down.”
Until he signs a contract with the Barons, the Calgary, Alberta born player will keep himself fit by training with Edmonton Oil Kings, the junior team of Edmonton Oilers in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
Jordan Eberle, also a youngster and a top player from Edmonton Oilers talked about Hall asked him to be careful and also praised him by saying that the first overall pick of 2010 NHL Draft is more talented than him and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, as he said,
“He’s anxious to play, but at the end of the day he has to make sure he’s healthy first. But if he can come down, it’s just going to give us another element. He’s got that speed and dynamic game that Ryan and I don’t have.”
