Edoardo Molinari impresses Colin Montgomerie, to play at Ryder Cup for Europe
The famous Ryder Cup has a lot of importance in the world of golf. These days, different golfers from all around the world are trying their luck to perform brilliantly to win a wildcard entry in the Ryder Cup team.
Quite recently, Italy’s ace golfer Edoardo Molinari was one of the success stories from the Ryder Cup. Molinari was able to impress European team captain Colin Montgomerie and has successfully been selected as a wild card entry for the European team. The 29-year-old Italian showed his class and skills by winning the Johnnie Walker Championship on Sunday. His victory is definitely a very special one as he was able to show his skills and determination. Colin Montgomerie has also selected Padraig Harrington and Luke Donald for his team to compete at the Ryder Cup.
The selection of Molinari comes as a strong blow to the hopes of Englishmen Justin Rose and Paul Casey. Despite performing superbly, the English duo will not be able to make it for this year’s Ryder Cup edition. It is no doubt disappointing news for the Britons as they have given their best in the 2010 season. Justin Rose has won two PGA titles this year and Paul Casey has proved himself by clinching the ninth spot in world golf rankings.
The Italian made his way to the Ryder Cup team by scoring amazing birdies in the last three holes at the Johnnie Walker tournament. He will now join the European team that Montgomerie will lead along with his brother Francesco who was an automatic qualifier for the Ryder Cup. This year’s European team will be even stronger with the addition of these two dynamic brothers. Colin Montgomerie further announced that the team will soon be joined by veteran golfer Sergio Garcia from Spain. According to Colin, Garcia will perform as the vice captain of the team and will work with golfing champs Thomas Bjorn, Darren Clarke and Paul McGinley.
While talking about his team for the upcoming Ryder Cup, Montgomerie was confident while saying that his team is composed of players which are remarkable and different in their own ways. Montgomerie claimed that he is feeling very confident about his team as his team has got a lot of potential. While talking about Padraig Harrington’s pick, Colin claimed that Harrington is a fighter and there were a lot of expectations from the player. Whereas talking about his selected team mate Luke Donald, Montgomerie told the media that Luke is a very experienced player and has the capability to play individually as well. He later added that Luke Donald has the capability to create marvels and he has already played in the Ryder Cup on several occasions and has delivered brilliantly.
Colin Montgomerie seems very impressed with his selected Italian wildcard entry Edoardo Molinari. While talking about his selection for the 29-year-old Italian, Montgomerie expressed his sheer excitement by saying that Molinari is a wonderful player and he is very impressed with the way he finished the game at the Johnnie Walker Cup.
Montgomerie is of the view that he has selected the best possible team from Europe. While talking about his team, the European captain claimed that he is feeling very confident for his team and hoping to deliver the best from it. Corey Pavin is busy in hunting the best squad for the American team at the moment. The Ryder Cup will start from next month.
