Edoardo Molinari ready to end the European Tour season on a high note
Edoardo Molinari, who missed the chance of making it to the Ryder Cup for the second consecutive time, is confident to make a strong finish at the European Tour season this year.
After participating in the Andalucia Open this year, the Italian revealed the he had been suffering from a wrist injury for the last four years.
However, he never gave it much importance, until he found out the seriousness of the injury this summer. He then decided to undergo a surgery and remained out of the golfing scene for about three months.
Last month, he made a return with an appearance in the BMW Italian Open presented by CartaSi. However, it was too late to make it to the Ryder Cup team once again.
In the meantime, his younger brother Francesco Molinari kept on showing some good set of skills in different parts of the world and booked his place in the European team.
Edoardo now looks forward to returning to his best form, especially when there are only nine tournaments left on the European Tour roster.
This week, he is scheduled to participate in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Moreover, he will be accompanied by his brother next week at the Portugal Masters.
“I’m very much looking forward to playing in Portugal,” he said. “I’ve played in the tournament the last few years and it’s a fantastic event. It’s a great golf course and the weather is always nice, so it’s always one that everyone looks forward to playing”.
He added, “I hope I can play well there. I have been slowly improving since returning from wrist surgery. I know it’s a long way back to top form, but I am completely pain-free now and hitting balls without any worry. Portugal could be a good week for me”.
The Portugal Masters will be played at the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura, Portugal, featuring some of the prominent names from the European Tour.
The Ryder Cup team captain José María Olazábal, Martin Kaymer, who clinched the winning point for the European Ryder Cup team last week, and all the four captains for the European Ryder Cup team have already confirmed to participate in the event next week.
