Edoardo Molinari to undergo surgery in September
Edoardo Molinari will undergo surgery in the current year, due to an injury on his left wrist.
The 31-year-old Italian professional golfer suffered an injury while playing in the final round of the Open de Andalucía Costa del Sol on Sunday, March 18, 2012.
His performance was impressive at the Aloha Golf Club, Andalucia in Spain. He finished tied for the 11th position by scoring a 10-under 278.
He displayed amazing strokes throughout the event and amazed the spectators till the final moments.
Molinari was aware of his injury and now the condition is becoming worse. There is no other option left for the Italian professional except to undergo a surgery, later this year.
"The first time I felt pain in my wrist was four years ago when I had tendinitis, but after seeing doctors I've been informed some of the cartilage on top of my wrist has become firm and it needs to be removed," Molinari said.
"I had six weeks off over the winter, but when I went out to the Middle East I knew something was wrong with my wrist as it became very painful," he added.
The 2010 Ryder Cup’s European Team player is now on a lay-off period and will not be playing in the coming months.
The pain in his wrist is worrying him. He will be going for a surgery in September and till then, he has to be careful.
"Luckily I'm not doing any more damage by playing, but if it does get too painful I will have the operation earlier," Molinari said.
Molinari turned professional in 2006 and has won nine professional events in total so far. He displayed a good performance at the European Tour (2 wins), Challenge Tour (5 wins) and Japan Golf Tour (1 win).
He also supported the European Team in 2010, as it won the title of the Ryder Cup. He has been tremendous and has enjoyed playing professional golf since turning professional.
The rising Italian star has to wait till September. His fans will be missing him. Similarly, his absence will also be making the European Tour events less competitive for other players.
