Edson Barboza: I just like to follow my own game plan and want to excel in UFC – UFC News
Edson Barboza, one of the undefeated lightweights in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), recently in an interview, shared his thoughts and said that he just likes to play his game while in the octagon adding that he wants to excel in the profession he
chose and strives to reach the pinnacle of his career.
Edson is scheduled to take on Evan Dunham in a non-title preliminary card bout on UFC 146: Junior Dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem pay-per-view. The bout will take place on May 26, 2012 and will be Barboza’s fifth UFC bout.
Barboza is a quality Brazilian fighter with a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a whole new level of talent under his sleeves. Edson, 26, has achieved much in his career at a very small age and has already caught media’s attention by his impressive
brawling abilities.
Edson is basically a Muay Thai brawler who has a startling Kickboxing resume to boast. Barboza has been in a total 28 Kickboxing bouts and came out victorious in 25. Moreover he has entered the mixed martial art octagon a total 10 times and remains undefeated.
Edson, who recently stunned Terry Etim via classic spinning wheel kick, was of the view that he just likes to play his game when in the octagon. The Brazilian young brawler said that he does not like to grasp a quick win rather tries to follow his game plan
and strives to win the bout by his own methodology.
Edson remarked, “Man, when I am in the octagon, I just think of doing my job, my game and a good fight. Of course the fighters look forward to a knockout or submission, and it can happen along the fight. But I'm focused on doing my own game.”
Smiling and sharing his thoughts about the recent victories, Edson commented, “I had some great fighters in front of me in the last fights. I think that’s why I did great fights. But as I said, I always keep my mind focused on my own game.”
The former Ring of Combat lightweight champion said that he just wants to reach the peak of his career since he does not want monetary advantage unlike others. Edson said that his aims and ambitions from the very first day are still the same adding that
he wants to achieve those goals step by step and make his own space.
Barboza who is on a continuous ‘Fight of the night honour streak’, while commenting about his upcoming bout said that Evan is a good, capable and tough wrestler and the bout with one of the best UFC lightweights will definitely be a cool, and exciting experience
for him.
Edson Barboza and Evan Dunham will collide at MGM Grand Garden Arena situated in Las Vegas Nevada.
