Eduard, the answer in Newcastle Flooring Novices´ Hurdle
In Friday’s Newcastle Flooring Novices´ Hurdle, Gold Ability is enjoying the highest price following his three victories in Ireland. But trusting him blindly is not the way to any riches. On his latest start, the 5-year-old suffered a tumble, and it would
have dented his confidence terribly.
There are no doubts over his extraordinary racing skills though. The Michael O'Hare-trained has been consistent since the very start of his career. Ahead of falling last time, the Mrs Tracey O'Hare-owned registered a couple of straight wins. He has the ability
to roar back, but it is hard to expect the gelding to do something very special right after the recent misery.
In this situation, the punters should stick with Eduard, who was pretty impressive on his latest trip here. Nicky Richards’ trainee started his career in March, when beating Duke Of Navan by four and a half lengths. After making a wonderful debut, the son
of Morozov went on vacations, and returned to action at the end of last month.
The spectators at Newcastle saw him doing a great job. The Kingdom Taverns Ltd-owned, however, remained slightly unlucky, missing the gold medal only by a head’s distance. Eduard is still young and full of energy. He now has a fair idea of the conditions,
and should come up with an even better effort this time.
Apart from these two runners, no one is making any significant appeal. On good to soft two miles, the participants will start pursuing a handy prize of £2,859 at 12:20 GMT.
Art School was placed in second of the two runs in bumpers, and needs improvement. Beatlejuice was well beaten in two bumpers, and would hardly make any impact on hurdling debut. French Hollow, a useful stayer on the Flat, should create some interest on
hurdles debut. Gumnd, who tailed off in both hurdling starts, has no chance whatsoever.
King Of the Wolds has tasted success in bumpers here, but will take some time to settle down over hurdles. Spin Cast is another runner who has done well on the Flat. Having won twice on the Flat, Brian Ellison’s charge is determined to make an impression
on hurdling debut.
