Eduard worthy of respect in Cheltenham’s British Stallion Studs / Pyments Quantity Surveyors EBF "National Hunt" Novices´ Hurdle (Qualifier)
Royal Boy is out to give Nicky Henderson a fourth straight win in Cheltenham’s British Stallion Studs / Pyments Quantity Surveyors EBF "National Hunt" Novices´ Hurdle (Qualifier), this Friday. The 5-year-old, who was a comfortable winner on his sole point-to-point
start, looks a very dangerous fellow.
Despite the fact that he is returning to action after more than 600 days, the bookmakers have shown great respect, giving him the highest odds of 7 to 2. Including the market support, there is plenty in Royal Boy’s favour, but our vote goes to Eduard - the
northern raider.
The 4-year-old performed magnificently on all his three starts. After making a winning debut in March, the Nicky Richards-trained went on a long vacation. He made his comeback in October, when missing the gold medal only by a head’s distance at Newcastle.
In the hands of Davy Russell, the 7-4 favourite ran well throughout, but narrowly missed the crown in the La Taxis Novices' Hurdle (Div I).
Building on that, the Kingdom Taverns Ltd-owned demonstrated an outstanding triumph last time. Under Brian Harding, the 11-10 favourite was a dominant force, as he clinched the first place easily by 18 lengths in the Newcastle Flooring Novices' Hurdle.
Having bagged such a comprehensive triumph, the son of Morozov is flushed with pride. Bred by Cecil And Martin McCracken, the skilful horse is expected to build on his fresh success, and display a fascinating act today.
A total of eight horses have entered the meeting. On good to soft two miles and one furlong, the participants will compete for a handy prize of £7,507. The contest is scheduled to begin at 15:40 GMT.
Valdez is carrying good odds, but it is hard to trust him blindly. The Philip Hobbs-trained was really disappointing here last time, and needs to bounce back.
Despite a drop in trip, Imperial Leader has frame claims. Trained Nigel Twiston-Davies, the dashing runner is open to further improvement, after a good win last time out. Dr Dreamy tailed off the last twice, and could easily be excluded from the calculations.
