Eduardo Dantas beats Alexis Perdomo at Bellator 59 – MMA Recap
Produced by the Bellator Fighting Championship on November 26, 2011, the bantamweight finals continued at Bellator 59. The mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from the bantamweight division, Brazilian Eduardo Dantas faced Cuban Alexis
Perdomo at the Caesars Atlantic City in Atlantic City, USA. Both fighters had high spirits as they entered the octagon fight ring to secure a win the gain a supreme lead in the tournament finals. In the end, it was Dantas was the winner by a unanimous decision.
Dantas, nicknamed Dudu, was impressive as the bout began. Vila did not have much in his defence as he did not have a counter attack strategy against Dantas. The Brazilian MMA fighter did manage to use his brute force in the fighting
ring. He took down Vila more than once in the first round as the Cuban MMA fighter was unable to secure a vertical base in the first round. Dantas was able to keep the pressure on Villas as Villas did not manage to apply any of his offensive tactics on Dantas.
The first round ended with both fighters looking for an opportunity to score an impact but could not do so with force.
As the second round progressed, Dantas was resilient with his grappling moves. He kept Vila on his knees for most part of the second round as he did not gave him any chance to stand up and fight with his punches. Vila, too, was
in a rusty position in the second round. Dantas used every single opportunity that he found against Vila.
The Cuban was in a troubling position against the Brazilian. Vila was being pounded hard by Dantas as the Cuban was brought against the cage and was not given any room to attack. Dantas hurled his knee attack many times in the
second round when Vila’s back was pinned against the cage. The second round ended with Vila taking some deep knee shots.
With the fight entering into the third round, Dantas kept his attack going with the intention of keeping Vila down on the mat. Vila was again unanswerable in the third round and could not punch or kick his way through the match.
Dantas did some good ground wrestling as he kept his total pressure on Vila. The Cuban was on the mat for most parts of the third round. Dantas was in the hunt to apply his rear naked choke for a submission.
Although Dantas could not use his rear naked choke but his continuous efforts with the submission move was enough for the judges to announce Dantas as the winner of the bout. Dantas has now earned the chance to face Zach Makovsky,
the reigning Bellator Bantamweight Champion. After the Dantas-Perdomo fight, Makovsky said, "I think he'll be the toughest fight of my career. You couldn't ask for a greater challenge."
