Napoli striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eduardo-Vargas-c12087, is upset with his performance on his debut for the Partenopei side.
The striker joined the Azzurri in January transfer window for approximately 12 million Euros.
Vargas was handed his first Napoli start in a Coppa Italia last 16 round game against Cesena recently. However, the striker could not make most of the opportunity, and his debut lasted for only 45 minutes. He was taken off at the
half-time, before his mistake led to the opposition’s only goal of the game.
The Chilean international admitted that he is extremely upset after a poor show in his debut game, but he has vowed to return with a better performance in the future. The striker believes that he needs time to settle in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926,
and is looking forward to his second game.
While talking to the reporters, Vargas said,
“I was very upset, as I never really got into the game. I will slowly adapt to this new football world and now can only wait for another opportunity to step on to the field.”
The 22-year-old revealed his anguish after his mistake led to Cesena’s goal. The striker is relieved that it did not cost them a lot, and the team managed to win the game.
“Unfortunately I made a mistake when I came back to help the defence. I tried to control the ball, but instead lost possession and that sparked the opposition goal. Fortunately the team managed to get back on top and win anyway.”
Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri, also lamented his mistake for handing the young striker with a debut too early.  He insisted that the young striker needs more games in the reserves setup before unleashing him at a bigger stage.
“I got caught up in the euphoria. I was wrong to select Vargas so soon. A Coach at this level should know when the time is right to field certain players.”
