Eduardo signs a 4 year deal with Shakhtar Donetsk

Arsenal’s front man Eduardo has completed a move to the Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk. The Croatian striker signed a 4 years deal that would see him stay there till 2014.
The Brazilian born striker is believed to have been sold by Arsenal for a price of 6 million pounds.  Eduardo was believed to be one of the most exciting young talents around; he was signed by Arsenal in 2007 from Dinamo Zagreb.
The striker had a good start to his Arsenal career but suffered an unfortunate broken leg, and had to spend a year out for recovery. Eduardo was not able to regain his place and the same form in the team after making his way back.
Arsenal though continued to keep faith in him and offered him a new contract in November, but still he has not lived up to the expectations of the manager. Arsene Wenger has decided to get whatever money he could get for him as he looks to rebuild his team.
Arsenal on its website made an official statement that said that, the club holds the striker in highest regard. Eduardo suffered a career threatening injury against Birmingham in 2008 but the way he recovered and made his way back in the team is a testament to his mental and physical toughness.
The club said that the young Croatian is a strong character and has a great future. The statement ended by saying that Arsenal wishes him great success in future endeavours and he will be sorely missed at the club.
Eduardo who called Emirates his home said that it is a difficult time for him, and it would take some time for him to realise that he would not be playing with Arsenal anymore. He said that the last few days have been extremely emotional for him, as the club has offered him great support in testing times.
Eduardo further said that Arsene Wenger has been a great mentor to him and he has learned a lot from him over the last 3 years. He added that he came to Arsenal as a raw young player and now feels that he has matured a lot during his time at the Emirates.
Eduardo said that he is looking forward to a new challenge in Ukraine and knows he will be able to learn a lot more in a new country and a new culture, but he added that this still does not change the fact that Arsenal is his home and leaving that makes him very sad.
He said that this is a very special place and in 3 years he has made some strong bonds, Eduardo further added that the players he played with have been more than just friends to him.
He said that the team is like a family to him and even the backroom staff have also been great to him whom he will miss a lot. Talking about the fans he said that even though he did not win any trophies at Arsenal he still enjoyed great support and admiration from the fans.
He said the gunner fans are a rare breed; Eduardo said that during his recovery period he received extraordinary support form Arsenal supporters.
Meanwhile Eduardo’s new boss Mircea Lucescu expressed his delight over the new signing. The Romanian said that the club had been looking to attain his services for a while. He said that even though he has had a tough time in his last few months at Arsenal but he is a quality player and will prove to be a great addition to the team.
