My husband is deployed, and I'm looking to finish my bachelor's in psychology. Can someone tell me what the education benefits for military spouses are? Maybe point me to a website. Thanks so much.

  1. Right now, there are no specific benefits for spouses. There are several avenues you can go through to try to get a spouse scholarship (i.e. AER has one). There are many schools that offer degrees online as well as on location, that are now offering military families in-state tuition rates to try and help with the prices.

The post 9/11 GI Bill goes into effect on 1 Aug 2009 and it can be transferred to 1 family member, but the service member has to have served a minimum amount of years (it is either 6 or 10) in order to qualify for this option.

Every post has an education office. You can contact them and see if they have any additional info for you.

  2. none at this time.   in August of 2009 the New GI Bill goes into effect, but certain criteria must be met..to include  being in at least ten years, re enlisting, forfeiting BAH payments and a cap on the amount of the GI bill that can be transferred over.

  3. There is no educational benefits for the spouse. You can't even use his GI Bill.

  4. As of Aug 1, 2009 you will be able to use the GI Bill.  They passed it that spouses and children will be able to use it.
