Question:

Education for a flight attendant?

Hi. I am currently a student in high school, but I am seriously considering a future job as a flight attendant. Although I have read much material about what is expected of flight attendants, I have a remaining question that I'd like for all of you wonderful people to answer! :)

Being quite a successful student in high school, it is somewhat expected that I will pursue higher education. However, I have always had a great desire to help people, as well as a love of travel, and I believe that I have many of the qualities that airlines look for in potential flight attendants. However, this urge to satisfy my want to begin a career in the skies is so great that I am thinking of applying when I am able without a college education. Wanting to be hired by a major airline, would I have any chance without a degree? Other than an increased possibility of getting hired, are there any benefits of having a degree as a working flight attendant? If I do attend college, what majors would be best?

  1. Although a college education is not a requirement to become a flight attendant, it would probably help them pick you out for hire amongst every one else applying if you did have some sort of educational background...perhaps in Hospitality Management
