  1. There are different types of ecologists.  Some specialize in plant work, others in animal, and some are aquatic. Many are involved in environmental assessment work, doing the field studies for environmental impact statements and such.  Many are employed by state agencies and federal agencies like fish, wildlife and parks departments.  Others work within the private sector for companies concerned about their impact on the environment. Areas of study include biology, chemistry, physics and the general core areas.  Advanced studies at the graduate level are often required. More specific classes would be required depending on the area of specialty.

    Hope this helps.  But I do wonder why this question is in the special education section as special ed is that field that works with learning disabilities, etc.
