technology in the classroom.

In a unit about birds of the xxxxx xxxxx, students would first examine the more than 350 different kinds of birds that can be found in the xxxxx using a search engine like www.Google.com. Students would research the names of the birds, the group of birds they belong to (i.e. loons, herons, doves, etc.), the season they can be sighted in, their habitat (i.e. beach, field, woods, etc.), and the frequency of their sightings. That data would be entered into an Excel file by the teacher. The students would have to use the Excel document to answer a series of questions by sorting, filtering and manipulating the researched data. Then students can each research a specific bird, write a report in Word, create a PowerPoint presentation and upload it to a classroom website through a free website host like www.tripod.com.

you can get much information in this website, kindly stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time, and you can aslo get your question answer in Google Search in this website, which has already helped me very much.

  2. Why not have the students create an outline using Word.  Or they could create the Excel document and answer each other's questions.  You could also set up an email account (or use your school account) where students could email their research to you (if they have school accounts).  Be careful with creating websites.  When I have my students do WebQuests they are usually given an option of creating a website for presenting their research but I do not allow them to do this.  I don't want to be held resposible for something going wrong or personal information being put on the internet about my students.  There is a website where you can create Jeopardy games (instructions included, see link below) and students could create a game that could be played.  They would have to come up with the questions and answers...which would eliminate the work you would do with the Excel program like you have in mind.  You have LOTS of options...decide what is best for the grade you are applying for.  Good luck!!!!
