technology in the classroom.
In a unit about birds of the xxxxx xxxxx, students would first examine the more than 350 different kinds of birds that can be found in the xxxxx using a search engine like www.Google.com. Students would research the names of the birds, the group of birds they belong to (i.e. loons, herons, doves, etc.), the season they can be sighted in, their habitat (i.e. beach, field, woods, etc.), and the frequency of their sightings. That data would be entered into an Excel file by the teacher. The students would have to use the Excel document to answer a series of questions by sorting, filtering and manipulating the researched data. Then students can each research a specific bird, write a report in Word, create a PowerPoint presentation and upload it to a classroom website through a free website host like www.tripod.com.
