Educators please advise about this q&a for a job app. How else would you use technology in your classroom?

Using technology in the classroom has so many exciting possible applications. Children view computers as a source of entertainment. I have observed many teachers use computers to play educational games which are very much like an automated worksheet. Children already know how to use computers this way. We should be teaching them how to use computers to gather, organize and communicate the information they are learning in school with real life applications. I would also take full advantage of any resources that exist at the school. Even if I am not familiar with a new technology that the school has available I am committed to learning how to fully employ it as it would benefit my class. Video media can provide an excellent compliment to a lesson if it is carefully chosen. Being familiar with the non-traditional network of education programs in the region, I will also seek out resources that may be available to introduce and utilize any technology that would enhance my class.

I'm not sure what you teach but there are all kinds of resources online for teachers. You could add that you would research new methods to implement in class. Online training type resources, etc. Also, don't discount overhead projectors, document readers, video tape students presentations, etc. as other types of classroom technology. I think it is well written, however you don't want to get to detailed and bore the reader. Be specific and to the point. Don't try to impress with BS, just answer the question :)

Too general. Give examples. Good points to address:

1. Technology to teach students using a different modality- esp. for more visual learners

2. Technology to assist students with more special needs.

3. Using technology as a motivator to foster student learning- e.g. using a digital camera to take pictures of vocabulary words

4. Technology as a way to SUPPLEMENT reading instruction in the classroom- you touched upon this as computers as entertainment.

I wish you would just ask a question and not do so much explaining - I got lost in it all.  I have no idea what you are trying to ask here.

To be truthful, I don't see that you answered the question clearly, as you gave very little specific information.  The only clear response was "to gather, organize and communicate the information they are learning in school" but how would you do that?  Pointpoints? WebQuests? iMovies?

Try not to be as vague and add some specifics into your answer.
